Assessment of The Ecology and Spatial Distribution of Mammals in The Mila Region Northeastern Algeria

This study presents a comprehensive assessment of mammalian fauna diversity in the Mila region of northeastern Algeria. Utilizing data from 81 sampling stations across various habitats, 20 mammal species spanning eight orders were identified. These findings represent 18% of Algeria's reported species and approximately 9.09% in the Mediterranean Basin. Diverse orders such as Carnivora, Rodentia, Eulipotyphla, Cetartiodactyla, Chiroptera, Lagomorpha, Macroscelidea, and Primates highlight the region's ecological richness and adaptability of mammals. Spatial distribution maps reveal varying presen

Physico-Chemical Assessment of the Quality of Spring Water Sources in Souk Ahras Region and Their Impacts on General Health

The present study evaluated the physico-chemical quality of water from three natural springs, Harireche, Ben Daoud, and Beskoui in Souk Ahras region. This study aimed to assess the impact of human activities on spring water quality and ensure the safety of water consumption. We measured various parameters, such as, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, turbidity, hardness, nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, phosphate, calcium, and magnesium. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) explained 80.14% of the total variance, which revealed significant correlations among the measured v

Association of Troponin I Levels With Mortality in Patients Hospitalized with Coronavirus Disease 2019

Sars CoV 2 acute respiratory disease is an infectious respiratory illness caused by the Sars CoV 2 virus belonging to the Coronaviridae family. A pandemic is always present in addition to causing pneumonia, Sars CoV 2 can induce direct damage to the heart, causing myocarditis, with significant impairment of cardiac contractility, and/or pericarditis. Elderly patients and those with cardiovascular risk factors, such as diabetes mellitus, pre-existing heart disease and hypertension, are at increased risk of Covid19 related cardiac complications. All information was gathered from patients' medica

First data of the distribution of the invasive species Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle within the Souk Ahras region, north eastern of Algeria

The risk of spread posed by an invasive plant Ailanthus altissima in the Souk Ahras region has never been the subject of research. Indeed, we conducted the first study in the wilaya of Souk Ahras on this invasive plant, with the aim of preserving the flora and fauna biodiversity in the study region against the threats of A. altissima, by adopting a cartographic approach in order to know the places of its propagation, its dynamics and its spatial occupation. Our inventory includes Eight hundred and forty-nine (849) trees of A. altissima in the souk ahras region, urban and semi-urban ecosystems

Antibiotic resistance in Enterobacteriaceae isolated from diverse animal and environmental niches in Souk Ahras, Algeria

The objective of this study is to provide an update of the current prevalence of antibiotic resistant enterobacteria strains isolated from different ecological niches. A total of 103 samples were taken from different ecological niches. These samples were collected randomly, from different stores (farms, zoo, chicken coop…) during the period from 13 February to 3rd March 2023. After the isolation and identification of the enterobacteria strains, the sensitivity of the strains to antibiotics was determined by agar diffusion method. The production of Extended Spectrum β-lactamase was detected
