Water is heavily exposed to contamination as this is the ubiquitous source for most of the water needs. This situation is exaggerated by the excessive population, heavy industrialization, rapid urbanization, and improper sanitation. Comprehensive measurement and knowledge extraction of water quality is therefore pivotal for ensuring safe and hygienic water use. The thermal springs of Souk Ahras have garnered renown in Algeria for centuries due to their therapeutic benefits in treating specific infections. To mitigate health risks linked to the therapeutic use of these thermal waters, a series
Despite the importance acquired by Casuarina in Algeria since their introduction at the beginning of the 19th century, the number of species now present in the country, their identity, their distribution as well as their symbiotic status are still largely unknown. Through this present study, we proposed to make a contribution to the knowledge of the symbiotic relationships of Casuarina equisetifolia (Forst) in the station of Ben Mhidi (wilaya of El Tarf). We first identified the Casuarina species present in the study station then we demonstrated root colonization by arbuscular endomycorrhizas
Globularia alypum. is a plant species of the family Globulariaceae, this species is commonly a good natural source of various secondary metabolites. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine phenolic content and antimicrobial activity of methanolic (G ME) and aqueous extracts (G AE) of aerial parts of Globularia alypum. The yields were 38%, 27.21% for methanolic extract and aqueous extract respectively. Total phenolic contents were determined using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and found to be 35.35 mg GAE/g dry weight for aqueous extract and 86.29 mg GAE/g dry weight for methanolic ex
A quantitative investigation was undertaken to explore the diverse applications of Opuntia Ficus-Indica. The study, initiated with a biological examination of seeds, focused on specimens gathered in October 2021 from the Sidi-Fredj area in the Souk-Ahras province of North-East Algeria. Four types of organic extracts: Ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane, underwent quantitative analysis, assessing tannins, flavonoids, and total polyphenols content. Results indicated that the methanolic extract exhibited the highest values for all three components (316; 182.51; and 454.33 µg/mL respecti
Wadi Soubella is a fifty km long river at the southern part of Sétif Province. It rises between the Boutaleb and Righa Dhahra mountains, forming a narrow corridor, and flows into the Chott El Hodna, one of the RAMSAR wetlands of Algeria. The study area is characterized by its faunistic, floristic, bioclimatic and landscape diversity, but it faces the threats of intensive drought as well as the construction of a new 17.4 hm3 dam to be installed on the wadi. The aim of the study is to characterize and classify the region's vegetation before the dam brings about environmental changes. Field work
