Evaluation of the acetylcholinesterase inhibitory and antioxidant activities of leaves from lesser burdock

Classical pharmacopoeia is replete with compounds that show therapeutic potential, including the ability to inhibit enzymes associated with specific diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro neuroprotective effects of extracts derived from the leaves of Arctium minus subsp. atlanticum, commonly known as "lesser burdock", an indigenous plant found in Algeria. The extracts were obtained using ethyl acetate, water/methanol, and aqueous extraction methods, and their efficacy against Alzheimer's disease (AD) was assessed. Different extracts were prepared by maceration or decoctio

Studying the Influence of Water Availability on Morphological and Yield Characteristics of Brassica napus L. in a Semi-Arid Environment.

To determine the effectiveness of irrigation, we studied some morphological and yield characteristics of a variety of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) in the semi-arid highland region, El-Hammadia Bordj Bou Arreridj. The results showed an acceptable fit for all endpoints monitored, including trunk diameter, plant height, leaf area, number of silics per plant, and number of grains per silic. Despite the scarcity of rainfall, this crop yielded 12 qx/ha, with ramifications exceeding 731 and an average of over 370 silics per plant, underlining the need to grow it in various regions.

GC/MS analysis and in vitro antioxidant activity of the essential oil of Thymus ciliatus from northeastern Algeria

The components of essential oils of samples of the aerial parts of Thymus ciliatus (Desf.) Benth., collected at northeastern Algeria in different harvest period, isolated by steam distillation (TC/OL 2015) and hydrodistillation (TC/HE 2016) were analyzed by Gas Chromatography (GC) / Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS and assayed for their antioxidant activities. Although both samples showed similar overall chemical compositions, the principal components were Camphor (44.47-33.18 %), Camphene (7.33-12.22%), Eucalyptol (6.97-6.69%), 4-Terpinenol (3.52- 6.27%), α-Pinene (2.72 -5.84%), Î

Assessment Of Iron and Zinc Content In Sorghum Germplasm: Implications For Biofortification

Ensuring adequate levels of essential micronutrients like iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn), in staple crops is crucial for addressing widespread micronutrient deficiencies and improving human health. The identification of germplasms with high grain Iron and Zinc concentrations represents a significant step forward in promoting crop biofortification efforts. Here in our study out of 86 germplasm 10 were found with high iron contents are IL 497, MR 47, IS 20575, AS 3883, ICSV 202, TNS 599, AS 3749, MIS 9652, MR 32B, SPV 615 and the 10 genotypes with low iron contents are IL 1136, MR 8, AS 2407, M-1061, I

Ground Beetles (Coleoptera) Communities Living in the Aleppo pine (Pinus halipensis) and Atlas cedar forests (Cedrus atlantica) of the Chrea National Park (Blida, Algeria)

In 2018, Carabids communities were investigated in an Aleppo pine area and Atlas cedar forests habitats of the Chrea National Park (Blida, Algeria), according to an altitudinal gradient of biodiversity. Carabids communities were collected monthly for one year using pitfall traps. In total, 208 individuals of ground beetles representing 18 species essentially carnivorous predators and valuable auxiliaries were captured. The harvested species belong to three groups and is divided between five families, whose Pterostichidae count nine species. The Aleppo pine site was the most diversified site wi
