Using near-infrared spectroscopy to evaluate tobacco flavor quality during bidding

In order to improve the efficiency of quality evaluation during the bidding process of tobacco flavors, quality discrimination models for 395 tobacco flavors were established by scanning flavors with their near-infrared spectra and backed by a consistency evaluation method. The models were applied to evaluate the quality consistency of the bidding flavors. The results showed that: 1) The selected wavelength range was from 4 000 cm-1 to 9 000 cm-1, and the first derivative was combined with the Standard Normal Variate (SNV) to pretreat the spectra with a CI (Conformity Index) threshold of 3.

Polyphenol adduct ions based on electrospray mass spectrometry

A rapid, sensitive and selective analysis method using Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled to triple-quadrupole Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS) has been developed for the quantification of polyphenols in rosé wines. The compound detection being based on specific MS transitions in Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) mode, the present method allows the selective quantification of up to 152 phenolic and two additional non-phenolic wine compounds in 30 min without sample purification or pre-concentration, even at low concentration levels. This method was repeatably appli

Analysis of endogenous floral aroma components and regulation of floral aroma characteristics of mainstream cigarette smoke

Chemicals underlying the floral aroma of dry teas needs multi-dimensional investigations. Green, black, and freeze-dried tea samples were produced from five tea cultivars, and only ‘Chunyu2’ and ‘Jinguanyin’ dry teas had floral scents. ‘Chunyu2’ green tea contained the highest content of total volatiles (134.75 μg/g) among green tea samples, while ‘Jinguanyin’ black tea contained the highest content of total volatiles (1908.05 μg/g) among black tea samples. The principal component analysis study showed that ‘Chunyu2’ and &lsq

Releases of main chemical components and aerosol from aerosol heated tobacco products

Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are novel products that allow users to inhale nicotine by heating (350 °C) reconstituted tobacco rather than combustion (900 °C) as in conventional cigarettes. HTP sticks containing reconstituted tobacco come in various flavours such as menthol, citrus, etc., like electronic cigarette liquids. Thus, the composition of HTP aerosol will also vary according to the flavouring agents added. Overall, the content of toxic chemicals in HTP aerosol appears to be lower than in cigarette smoke. However, the concentrations of more than twenty harmful and potential

Isolation and identification of Bacillus subtilis strain L249 and its control effect on tobacco brown spot disease in pot experiments

In recent years, the bacterial blight of cassava has caused substantial economic losses to the Chinese cassava industry. Chemical control methods have become the primary approach to control this disease; however, their widespread usage and harmful residues have raised concerns about environmental pollution. In order to avoid this, it is urgent to seek a green ecological method to prevent and control it. Biological control through the utilization of microorganisms not only effectively inhibits the disease, but also gives consideration to environmental friendliness. Therefore, investigating a
