Abstract : Hydrodistilled essential oil from fresh aerial parts of Teucrium polium L., collected from Bougaa Mountains (Eastern Algeria), was GC and GC-MS analyzed. Thirty-two compounds were characterized representing 99.79 % of the essential oil with the prevalence of α-Humulene (19.99%), β-Pinene (16.94%), Spathulenol (8.40%), α-Pinene (7.58%), 2-Methylanisole (7.01%) and Caryophyllene oxide (6.47%). Our result differs slightly from the previous studies on this species and showed a relatively high proportion of α-Humulene.
