Abstract :
The aims of current study was to investigate the Berberis vulgaris leaves for -amylase and -glucosidase Inhibitory Activity Potential, antioxidant capacity and Phytochemical compounds i Lakhder GASMI n aqueous extract. The Phytochemical composition of B. vulgaris leaves aqueous extract was analyzed using the HPLC-DAD technique. 3 methods were used to investigate the antioxidant activity of our extract namely, DPPH free radical scavenging, ABTS radical cation scavenging activity, and CUPRAC assay. Additionally, the inhibitory ability against -Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity of aqueus extract was assessed in vitro. The contents of polyphenols flavonoids and Condensed tannins were found to be 104,15± 7,28 µg GAE/mg extract, 23,77± 1,13 Q E / µg extract and 94,25±14,14 µg Cat. E/ mg), respectively, Whereas the amount of tannins was 65.293 ± 0.883µg Cat E/ mg of dry extract in addition, HPLC-DAD analysis of the aqueus extract showed that chyrsin and 11 compounds, namely curcumin, apigenin, vanillic acid, genistein, and fisetin, were identified. The tested extract showed good antioxidant radical scavenging and reducing potential. Additionally, aqueous extract inhibited -Glucosidase activity by 37.9% and IC50 was estimated to 88.72±2.20 μg/mL. Surprisingly, no activity against -Amylase Inhibitory was shown. These results show that Berberis vulgaris leaves could be used as -glucosidase inhibitors’ agents and source of antioxidants in food, pharmaceutical.
