Abstract :
The review explores the intricate relationship between online dating and interpersonal dynamics, emphasizing how technological advancements and societal norms shape user interactions. Drawing from a OnePoll survey of 5,000 U.S. respondents, it investigates critical aspects such as gender dynamics, emotional engagement, and overall well-being. By addressing existing literature gaps, the review highlights often-overlooked challenges and emotional nuances. Systematic review utilized a rigorous methodology to investigate AI-driven gamification in online dating, focusing on eligibility criteria, study selection, data extraction, and synthesis. It emphasized empirical studies from 2024, identifying themes like gender dynamics, emotional engagement, privacy concerns, and algorithmic bias. Eleven peer-reviewed studies were analyzed, revealing significant insights into relationship dynamics and platform design. Findings point to significant gender differences, with 75% of male respondents reporting exclusivity in online relationships, compared to 66% of female respondents. Emotional infidelity, a central concern, reflects changing perceptions of fidelity in a digital landscape, where connections and boundaries are constantly redefined. The study reveals how dating apps often reinforce existing societal hierarchies, subtly promoting traditional social structures and hierarchies that align with cultural norms. Review’s implications emphasize the need for ethical considerations in the development of dating app algorithms to minimize biases and protect user privacy, advocating for more respectful digital dating environments. Limitations such as self-reported data and the lack of longitudinal studies suggest that further research is essential. Future studies should explore the dynamic evolution of online dating across diverse cultural contexts and examine its long-term impacts on relationship quality.
